Grooming your Cavalier

The key is to groom every day (like brushing your own teeth). –develop a set time so you do not forget—maybe when watching TV at night or in morning in bed –make it a quality time with your dog.

It should not take more than 3-4 minutes for an adult dog and for a puppy it is just training.

The tools needed

Small Pin Brush (TP60631)

Comb-fine (TP90612)

Comb-coarse (RS60415)- for ears to remove mats

NAILS—as needed—every couple of weeks--do when grooming

Nail Clippers (TP72715)—for adult nails

Nail Clipper (TP9105) –for puppy nails (up to 6 months)—just catch tip that is bending down and clip

Shears (DD83004)—cut pad hair-under foot—helps walking and keeps dirt out

WASHING

In addition, many people ask how often to wash their dog. The answer is when their hair gets so dirty or smell so bad that they need it.  If you comb them every day they should not need frequent washing.

Would recommend every couple of weeks or as needed—would use

  • All Systems Botantanical Conditioner (AL95416)

  • All Systems Pure White Lightening Shampoo (AL92290)

  • Safe Eye (TP96034)—protect eyes from soap-helps clean

  • Pro Ear Cleaner (TP59616)—use Q-tips
