Advice & Tips on How to Pick a Quality Cavalier Breeder
One of the most important decisions is picking a reputable breeder. It dramatically improves the odds of a healthier dog. But how do you know?

Pick a breeder that is actively trying to improve the breed-versus just selling puppies*. Interestingly, you often do not pay any more for a pet quality dog from a "Quality" breeder.

 * backyard breeders (often nice people) breed from poor stock as can not breed to top dogs and do limited or no health checks.
Ask them:
  • Do you show your dogs? (have reputation to keep and have access to breed to proven healthiest stock)?
  • How many breeds do you sell (if more than 2 is issue)

  • Are you member of a National club? (could be red flag as could not get or care to get membership)

  • Do you have MVD and Eye health certificates for both parents? (if not find another breeder) There are some health issues with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Make sure you are educated and ask to see certificate of both parents.
See Cavalier King Charles Spaniel health page and Cavalier resources and links on web site for more information.
